It's the fourth of April and there have been no new allocations to members of the waiting list since last year. As long as I have been the allocations secretary this has never been the case. Usually January sees a flurry of allocations as existing members give up their plots. The waiting list has grown to 178! The reasons for this are all around us and I will leave readers to speculate as they choose.
